Even though I know most people here are against circumcision, I still want to know your opinion. I am suffering from phimosis and hanging foreskin. I know the phimosis can be treated with a cream but my hanging foreskin can't. I am mainly wanting to circumcise because of hygiene, visual and of course phimosis. When erect, the foreskin hangs over for about 0.50 inch, it's even worse when flaccid.

Maybe it is possible to just get a slight trim, rather than the whole slash job ?

Cremes will not expand your prepucial sphincter. Betamethasone 0.05% - 0.1% ASSISTS with expansion but you need to do gentle stretching exercises. Once your skin tube is looser it won't hang so far in front of the tip of the glans.

Give it a few months before committing to a life-changing irreversible amputation of sexually sensitive tissue.

And actually, the standard of care when the stretching hasn't worked for 6 months is NOT circumcision, but "triple incision dorsal slit with transverse closure" which amputates nothing.

If you let me know the diameter of the widest round thing you can fit into your prepuce today, I can make you a wearable stretching device to hasten your progress.

Well you may lose some girth if you get it done.

I had a issue pulling all the way back but solved it after a few days of stretching it Also my EQ increased also after that since I was able to get better harder erections and it felt much better

You mentioned multiple issues: phimosis, hygiene and visual: what is the primary reason you are considering circumcision?? Hygiene-unless you spend alot of time away from civilization, it's not hard to keep it clean: most guys make the mistake of washing too often with soap & water, which dries it out and causes itching and some pain, wash as you normally do when showering, but rinse frequently with water: before I went under the knife, when in public buildings I always looked for handicapped stalls that had the sinks in them. Visual: did you have a hanging foreskin before you developed phimosis? There is a type of circumcision that leaves some of the foreskin on. Now for phimosis-There are other ways of dealing with it: creams, and the device that TLCTuggger mentioned. But phimosis is something that will get your urologist to make a surgical appointment almost as fast as you can get the words out of your mouth: they love to do those kinds of $urgical procedure$, if you know what I mean....

What it all boils down to is do you want to be circumcised or not? If you do not, then there are options for treatment. If you do, remember that once it's done, it's done. You will lose a lot of nerve-endings: stimulation will be...well...not necessarily better or worse, just different. One thing you will lose, though, is that extra sensation of your foreskin sliding back & forth over your glans, which was nice.

One thing you do need to know, adult circumcision is not just snip-tuck & you're done, if you get the chance, try to web-sleuth some circumcision surgery pics, you'll see what it entails, it's not for the faint-of-heart. Note-the post-op healing is NOT fun. Remember that you are cutting off a part of your body rich in blood vessels and nerve-endings, A LOT of nerve endings. It is going to hurt.

Circumcisions DO get botched on occasion, yeouch!

I had it done as an adult, you can read about it here:

https://www.pegym.com/forums/penis-...so-yeah-have-some-questions-2.html#post416972

It was my own choice and I must say that it worked out well. But that was me, everyone is different. I'm not for or against, circumcision, its a matter of personal preference. But like many folks on this forum, I just want you to be INFORMED.

Whatever you decide, good Luck!

Since the phimosis is treatable without circumcision, it's going to have to be visual and hygiene at 2nd place. Because no matter how much an uncut guy washes, his penis will still be less clean than a guy who is cut. With clean I mean the smell and things like that.

Visual: did you have a hanging foreskin before you developed phimosis?

Yes. I have always had phimosis and hanging foreskin.

But phimosis is something that will get your urologist to make a surgical appointment almost as fast as you can get the words out of your mouth: they love to do those kinds of $urgical procedure$, if you know what I mean....

I've heard this is the case in the USA, but I think surgery in my Country is way cheaper.

One thing you will lose, though, is that extra sensation of your foreskin sliding back & forth over your glans, which was nice.

Yeah, that would be nice to keep.

One thing you do need to know, adult circumcision is not just snip-tuck & you're done, if you get the chance, try to web-sleuth some circumcision surgery pics, you'll see what it entails, it's not for the faint-of-heart. I'm mostly scared about the results and recovery. I want to do it privately and I still live at home with my parents, it's close to impossible to keep it a secret.

I had it done as an adult, you can read about it here:

Interesting story. Glad it turned out well in the end.

Would your parents have a problem with it? If you have your own room and bathroom, you should be fine.

I do not care if they are OK with it, I have the money to do it myself but I do not want them to find out. I'll see if I can schedule a consultation with an urologist and make a decision afterwards.

When you say visual motivation, do you mean you want to be able to easily reveal the glans upon arousal? Or you just can't stand having your glans concealed while flaccid?

When you talk about "hanging foreskin," you just mean it presently rests with the skin rolled out to past the tip of the glans, right? I mean "hanging foreskin" is term I've never heard, although I have heard of kids being diagnosed with "redundant prepuce" (which of course is a crock of feces invented to justify circumcision of a healthy normal person). "Redundant" is a term of art in anatomy, and has nothing to do with being expendable or extra.

When you talk about hygiene, I think you're using the wrong word. The foreskin is what keeps the glans hygenic (healthful). You mean you want to be sterile, free of much of the normal population of bacteria, right? You should know that we are populated by over 700 varieties of beneficial bacteria. Plenty of those are absolutely vital for our survival. The mild sweet aroma of the foreskin is due to the same bacterium that gives female genitals an aroma. The more you rinse away sloughed-off skin cells (that otherwise would collect within the foreskin) the less the bacteria have to digest, and the less of their aromatic waste you will carry. I strongly urge you to get retractable first and THEN decide about whether you like having a foreskin. In addition to the very minimal aroma which you may choose to live with, this course also lets you find out what men love about the feeling of the skin slinking over the corona before you decide whether to live without it, AND it will make it easier for your surgeon to do a neat job should you decide to go through with it.

If you do decide to do it, make sure the surgeon knows WHICH skin you want removed and HOW MUCH slack you expect to have upon erection when it's over. I'd say spell it out in a contract. If that scares the doctor off, you know to keep looking for a competent surgeon. In my business I hear from about 10 men per day who are disgusted with the results of their circumcisions. It doesn't automatically come out the way you expect. You need to take an active role.

Tugger,

I know cutting off foreskin is unnatural and if I had an uncircumcised penis without any issues I would not consider circumcision. However, I doubt a penis with phimosis and a 1.5 inch hanging foreskin is natural. Which is why I am considering surgery. I'll definitely look into a surgeon who can remove some skin and not everything.

If you were retractable before, but not now, then you need other treatment.

Phimosis is the normal natural state of every penis until manipulation of the skin gradually breaks down the synechial bonds, usually by puberty. 2% to 4% of adults will have phimosis, but only about half of those will choose to do anything about it.

The skin hanging past the tip is not abnormal, and again, once you get retractable the skin tube tip will probably ride closer to the tip of the glans.

Good Luck,
-Ron

Hey, Tudo!

I had my penis circumcised 2 months ago and I want to share my opinion with you. Hopefully it will help you make a decision.

I underwent the whole procedure due to cosmetic reasons. I never had phimosis, but my foreskin was way too long in my opinion. I believe I messed it up with my PE exercises (It was already long enough naturally but I stretched it even more) Even when erect it could fully cover the glans and during the intercourse I had to tug it back because my foreskin covered the glans and it diminished the sensation. With the foreskin tugged buck the sensation was way better. And I didn't really like the way my penis looked when flaccid with all the foreskin hanging low. Kinda looked untidy.

One of my ex-girlfriends used to like it though. She used to inflate it as if it were a balloon (funny I know) so you can imagine that it was fairly long.

After doing some homework (by reading various forums and websites about circumcision) I realized that I needed to keep the foreskin intact and cut the skin below the foreskin (the skin on the shaft). And to be honest in my case the foreskin is a more powerful zone for me to reach orgasm. I can cum from stimulating the foreskin alone without even touching the glans. So I knew I wanted to keep it.

And I had this operation exactly the way I wanted. Foreskin was not touched and the scar is closer to the bottom of the shaft. My frenulum was cut into 2 and the loose parts were stitched to the foreskin. It was needed because otherwise the frenulum would tug and bend the glans. When erect it still look as if the frenulum is intact but it doesn't pull on anything anymore because the connection between the upper and lower parts was severed.

Now after almost 2 moths have passed my penis has almost healed but there is still some swelling around the scar. And I was told by the doctor that the total flattening of the surface may take about 6 months. But I don't feel any discomfort or any pain anymore.

Now about my sensations. To be honest I didn't notice any loss in sensitivity. On the opposite as the foreskin is always open when erect it feels so much better. Now it is the whole surface of my glans and my foreskin are rubbing against my partner's vagina all the time and it's way better than it used to be. Moreover I love the way my penis looks now. The glans looks so prominent and in general the penis looks very neat. My girlfriend tells me it looks so yummi now.

So on contrary to the experience of many people here I am happy with my circumcision. I kick myself for not having done it before. Because I used to plan for a long time but couldn't gather the courage to do it (was afraid of the operation, had doubts due to many people calling it mutilation).

From my opinion many people here (and not only here in fact) exaggerate the harm of circumcision (if any). They never had experience with uncut cock and tend to ascribe to it some mythical advantages which they were deprived of without their consent. It's like the grass is greener on other side. People may have some hormonal balance problems and start believing that their problems are because of reduced sensation of their penis due to circumcision.

From what I am seeing I can tell you that though the sensation of my glans when flaccid diminished a bit (the body adapts to new conditions and in this case rubbing against clothes and constant exposure to air) when erect the sensation is the same or better (due to the glans not getting covered with foreskin). I mean the nerves are still there. They do not disappear or die because you rub your glans against your clothes. So from my experience the whole theory about reduced sensation is doubtful.

I am happy with my circumcision, guys.

The nerves don't die but they get less and less once your glans start their keratinisation from all the rubbing and being with out it's natural lubricant, also the foreskin has as many if not more nerves than the glans, and the frenulum has even more than the glans.(if you kept yours)

You are an adult, I presume, and you can do whatever you wish with your body, but there are some things you should consider before you decide on a circumcision because the operation is irreversible and there is no turning back if you don't like the results.

Regarding phimosis.

Phimosis is simply non-retractile foreskin. It is not a disease and does not have to be treated unless desired. It is easily treated by manual stretching with or without topical steroid ointment. See

The Development of Retractile Foreskin in the Child and Adolescent

The foreskin, which you want to cut off, is not simply a flap of useless skin. It is a complex structure with a lot of functions. You ought to know exactly what you plan to cut off. See

The Prepuce: Anatomy, Physiology, Innervation, Immunology, and Sexual Function

You are concerned about the "hanging foreskin", however that is called the akroposthion by the ancient Greeks and was considered to be very beautiful.

The long foreskin provides superior protection to the head of the penis.

The long foreskin may improve the sexual experience because of its superior gliding action.

The Ideal Prepuce in Ancient Greece and Rome

The Case Against Circumcision

Finally, you should know what is going to happen to your sexual function. Please see:

Foreskin Sexual Function/Circumcision Sexual Dysfunction

Considering it's a year old, I think he has all ready made a decision.

Don't do it. I was circumcised and hated it. I am regenerating and love my new foreskin. It makes my penis look bigger, it makes it easier to get an erection (cause the glans is smooth and sensitive - unlike a circumcised glans), and foreskin makes sex, bj's, and hj's feel so much better.

But you are a grown adult, and if you want to cut the skin off your penis, making it look smaller, and eventually desensitizing it until you get ED problems later in life ... go right ahead and do it. Worst case scenario, you get cut and hate (yup, you probably will) then regenerate your foreskin back again. It takes 1-3 years to grow it back.

It's your life and your dick, so it's your call.
