This is an odd topic, but perhaps there can be some discussion into it. I've never traveled too much outside the US. My sister has, and I get the feeling, especially in European countries, that folks are just a lot looser and carefree (so to say). Now, from movies and such, I just get the feeling that sex is not as big as an issue and meeting people or young people just looking to have some fun is less tedious than that in the states. Not that there are any shortage of dogs or easy guys/gals here in any given club or bar in most states. I'm talking broad generalities.

I know this forum has many members from the US, but also quite an international population. And I guess I can't really pinpoint what I want to ask here, aside as to inquire about tendencies of different nationalities in terms of the role that each sex plays in going with one another- Going out and looking to have fun, hook up, relationships, etc. Perhaps a country where instead of men having the main "burden" of being the sex that typically has to initiate things, etc like the US (in a lot of cases)...Are there countries where ladies play a more dominant role in that or are more aggressive in a natural sense?

I hear a lot of aspects of Iceland may be the opposite in terms of that, where women are much more aggressive. But I'd like to hear more opinions. Where would a shy guy find a good fit or feel most at ease for example? Your experiences?

Thanks

I guess I can help out a little bit. I grew up in the Midwest USA and a couple months ago moved to New Zealand (I'm in my mid-20s), I like the attitudes of the women here waaaaaaaaaay better. They're much more open about talking about sex and of course, having it (I believe they are rated the most promiscuous bunch of women among 1st world countries). I'd say the typical pattern in the USA is you date for a bit, then hook up the 3rd-5th date, but in NZ they don't really have the "dating culture", you just hook up, then sort out a relationship if that's what you want, if not, move to the next hook up. I wouldn't say women carry much of the burden in terms of approaching guys though, that still falls mainly on the guys, but I will say the girls here are much bolder about letting their intentions be known. When I go out here I get stared down a lot by girls, girls walking past and lightly bumping me to make their presence known, stuff like that that would rarely happen in the USA. So in that sense, I guess you have a better idea that a girl is into you which can make approach much easier.

I'm not sure what is meant by sexually aggressive, but it could easily be the case. The study I've seen claims that NZ girls on average have had more sexual partners by the age of 30 than any other 1st world country.

The first person women try to fool over number of partners is themselves,so I gon't know how you would get that stat accurate.

Americans seem to be very uptight about sex and even nudity. In Norway we don`t have a dating culture either, you just hook up, hang out, have sex:p. I wouldn`t say we are sexualy agressive, more like sexualy relaxed.
I think norwegian women are treated more like equals than what they seem to be in America, especially when it comes to sex and how they are judged for having it or enjoying. I think men in many cultures judge women, based on their guilt for their own sexual urges.

SEX IS NOT DIRTY!!!

Doesn't it make sense that the age of the woman being asked makes a difference in all this? If you had asked me at age 20 how many sexual partners I had had, and again at 25, and again at 30, the numbers would have been higher each time.

God the double standards I see on this site especially from americans.
Scandinavia has long been known for it's sexual equality. Though the asange thing is a bit of a worry both from a sexual and justice point of view.

Bw one of the ways women react to the double standard is not being accurate with number of partners.
It is very rare they will admit to a double digit number of partners ,regardless of age.

Its not the whole U.S fellas, more progressive states dont really have this double standard. I believe its more a common thing amongst Republican states (i.e Southern states lol)..
Its equal judgement in my City (chicago) men and women are equally considered sluts and man whores, no gender bias geared toward whoredom haha.

But TJT, In Norway might not apply to all , dont you think your "hungness" is something that is known about you hence the easy lay scenarios for you? haha

So either the stats are accurate and they do have the most partners or the stats are inaccurate, but they're the group of women that care least about hiding their promiscuity, either way it says a lot about their sexual openness.

Or perhaps they are just generally less into lying.

Kiwis esp kiwi females between the ages of 16-27 are major binge drinkers.. binge drinking is a huge problem and part of New Zealand Culture... If the numbers are high it will be because basically what happens is people get drunk and they fuck...its not that they are more sexually advanced or aggressive..its more we(New Zealand) have a huge binge drinking problem... its a very boy culture, so females are often trying to keep up with the boys, be like the boys to get the boys attentions (since the boys are busy trying to impress their mates(mates being bros), the men here always put other males ahead of females and beer and booze ahead of everything.)
Kiwis have one of the worst drinking cultures in the world because of their approach to alcohol.
I was a binge drinker when i was younger and it just about killed me...i didn't fuck a bunch of randoms so my numbers are low.

Dating here is basically you go out once, and then you are either a relationship or you aren't after that first date.
its rare to hear of anyone dating more then one person at a time...it might be changing with the generations..but when i was younger it always amazed me how there was no middle .. you didn't really date, in the sense that you took time to get to know a person under a dating title.. it was relationship or not relationship. or people would hook up drunk at a club and fall into relationships that way

Right.

First off I would be shocked if a man I liked asked me that question. Maybe a friend friend but not a potential bf. I would not answer him (and for my age i have only a hand full) and probably question his mental strength, confidence.
