A discussion in another forum/thread sparked this thought: only referring to "old-school" video games (pre 1995), what are your top 5 video games/consoles? Whenever I have some real down time, I'll occasionally break out the PS3 or the Wii and have some laughs. But today's games are nothing like the games I played when I was growing up; when it comes to the 'classics,' what would you consider the best? I know I'm dating myself with the year but that's when games really changed (the original Playstation came out in late 1994 and really changed gaming).

An inch and 1/2 deeper than before
Great idea, I liked Asteroids, Galaga, Space Invaders, many pinball games, Evil Kaneivel and Gorgar come to mind and Frogger. I guess I just aged myself, lol

N64 was released 1996, just FYI...

Otherwise, I would've definitely put Goldeneye on my list, and Ogrebattle 64. :)

Asteroids and Galaga. I actually have the console games in my game room :)
I used to skip school until I was able to flip/beat the galaga game (crazy)
Loved space invaders. I think we had an atari with asteroids? I dont recall.
I played pac man but hated it. The game drove me crazy for some reason and still does. I have the game here too but dont allow anyone to use the sound on it !

Top 5 consoles
PS2
XboX 360
N64
Gameboy
NES

Top 5 games
Pokemon Red/Blue
GT4
SBK X
Tourist Trophy
Duke Nukem

I still prefer to mostly use the PS2 or Gameboy (though I usually play games on the comp instead of it). A lot of these new games coming out for 360, Wii, and PS3 have awesome graphics, but that's about all they really have. Companies are really sacrificing game play and the plot for better graphics. I'd rather have sub-par graphics but an awesome plot to the game.
If I could pick 6 consoles, Sega Genesis would find it's way up there.

Remember the old "arcades" and "game rooms." Places like "Aladdin's Castle" and "Dark Journey" and "Midway" ... they were all dark and filled with those old machines and built like mazes ... no token exchange machine - straight quarters ... you could lose yorself in those places for hours ....

Places today still try to capture that feel and vibe, like Dave & Busters, Jillian's, and to a lesser extent, Chuck E Cheese, but it'll never be the same ...
