I think as a parent you financially support your kids and as they get older you ease them into the work world. I had my first real job at 14. My parents had to sign papers and turn them into the school because of child labor laws. My dad said at that age he would still buy my school stuff but anything else I wanted he would match me half, as I got older he matched me less and less.I am glad he did this for me, he made great money and retired at 57 with no worries but he didnt let me get spoiled. I see nothing wrong with buying some things for a 20 something year old when hes needing some help.
Here is the way it works though, you get to buy him what you want to buy him and you get to deny him what you wish, thats because it is your money not his, doesnt seem fair but its not suppose to, that is what motivates people to work, that is what makes boys decide to become men, because grown men and grown woman get to spend there free money on what they chose to spend it on, My boy wants an expensive back pack for school but tells me its made better and will last him 4 years, I say hell ya boy lets get that back pack. My boy says dad. Its my last free summer before college and I need a car but I want my free time with my friends before I go away, im not getting a job, but dad I really need a car! I lookk at him and say tough shizzle boy. Get ajob and hang out with your freinds after work like I have for 18 years paying your way, and buy the way, he will feel better about going after work because if he gets that job I might find it in my heart to help him get a car, help him, not give him.

Very well put. I am in total agreement with this. I wish my parents did this with me actually...I'm a little spoiled I admit but not really. I still live at home and admittedly am not as motivated to find a job as I should be, but I pay for my own expenses like clothing, toys (sex or otherwise), trips, drinks, parties, etc. using money that I saved up when I had a job.

Maybe Mistydawn can do that with her son...pay for half the fleshlight on the condition that he ramps up his job search.

Tell him to join a military branch, see the world and pay for real pussy. The Navy and Air Force avoid most ground combat situations, so you won't have that worry. He sounds like he could use the discipline and structure. cut the apron strings or he will use them to drag you down with him. Recruiters' doors are open 6days a week, just don't send him to the Corps; he's not Marine material. He'd bail on their Basic Training, and be back on your lap in a couple of weeks.

A lot of truth in that one. I've known a-holes and d-bags who went to the military and got back as respectable men. Telling him straight up would probably freak him out though. He has to be genuinely interested in joining(my friends who joined military always used to look up to military men in their teens)

I was a Drill Sergeant during the draftee army. Many of those who came in never wanted to be there. But, unlike today, they could not opt out. Very very few turned out to be anything less than good soldiers and good men. I had a lot of respect for men 17 to 35, who were yanked from civilian life to become citizen soldiers.

Its a luxury item and toy.
If he wants it then he has to financially pay for it himself...if he is shy about buying, then he can buy it from online
If he is introverted socially and struggling with women, Getting him a fake vagina will just add another barrier for him to get out and meet a real girl...he will settle for the toy and the drive to find someone to fill his sexual needs will lessen.
As a parent its not your job to cater to his sexual needs/wants...buying the toy is a want. Helping with the fragility or the issue behind the his sexual need is important, the sexual mentality, as a parent its important to guide children into a healthy sexual state of being..But there is a fine line that you have to walk when doing it...buying him a sex toy because he is bored with his hand and too scared to meet women is not helping .

At the same time, do you think he's ready for a real sexual relationship? What if he got a girl pregnant? Do you think he would be able to handle that type of responsibility given what mistydawn has told us about him? Maybe a fleshlight is the best next step for him and Mistydawn can use this opportunity to also teach him about starting to support himself financially (with limited support from her)...wean him off his hand and wean him off mom's wallet at the same time but don't have to go cold turkey.

A flesh light is fancier masterbation, it is not going to help him in any way and none of us, not a single one where ready for a sexual relationship the first time around. everbody starts somewhere. What hes doing is what half ofthe 20 somethings in America o now, asking for something because its easier then working fo it. If he want to have practice sex his hand will do fine, tell him to lay on it till it goes numb and it will feel like someone else is doing it for him. Theres no way to justify a statement saying his mom in any way, shape or form should assist him in obtaining a fake vagina.
Misty, none of my psots are intended to belittle you or your son in any way, I am speaking on the subject alone and if it has offended you I am truly sorry, I am just trying to make the point that moms shouldnt by fleshlights for their sons, dads shouldnt buy dildoes for their daughters and its not cool to tell grandma you want a set of benwa balls for christmas. If any one wants this stuff buy it yourself or get it from an appropriate person, lover, bachelorette party gift, etc, etc.

Mothers find it difficult to force a son to make it on their own. I have seen a couple of marriages severly stressed when a father wants a son out and the mother is still in the protective mode. Usually the mother wins because the old man can' t take the pressure. But you have to kick them out so they can develop their own self worth. The longer he stays the tougher it is to break the trend.

Didn't expect so many responses. We are all pretty much in agreement that he should buy his own. He doesn't live with me, by the way. I like that we have open communication. Many of my male friends tell their mom squat. I feel sorry for their mothers. Some are desperate to know about their son's life because they love them. I told my son to not do that to me, but he will as he gets older. They all do. My brother use to call my mom at all hours when he was upset, that stopped.

You have to know my personality as well. I can talk about anything. The fetishes I will discuss with friends, but not my son. My son doesn't know about my personal sex life. He only knows I am open to talking about sex and I know about all the stuff out there.

Anyway, the fleshlight he is gonna have to come up with on his own. I told him already.

Listen, mistydawn. I'm glad that you and your son have a great bond where you both talk about things openly, but buying a sex toy for your son is a little extreme. Batwoman, Pirate and the others are right. He needs to buy his own. If he doesn't live with you, then he may be hitting you up for cash, just like some have said.

I said I wasn't gonna buy him one. He doesn't want cash, he knows I would buy it online and have it sent. I've bought him things but NEVER anything like a sex toy. I've bought video games and WOW sh*t or a SiD Vicious T shirt. Sex toys he is gonna have to get for himself. :)

I think I see where you are coming from. You have bought him stuff before since he has no money and are comfortable talking about sex with him (I assume), I guess he'd figured it'd be no big deal to ask you about it and to buy it for him.

You could always make him an origami vagina. With enough dexterity, papercuts are minimal!

Wherever I choose to be.....
This would be the equivolent of one of my daughters asking me to by them a dildo (when they're of proper age to be interested in sex). That would be a "HELL NO" for me.

I can see being open with a parent. I'm open with my mom but I'm also 40 and know how I got here so sex shouldn't be a taboo subject between mother and son. However, I'd never ask my mom to buy me a Fleshlight............I might ask to borrow the money but I wouldn't tell her what I was going to do with it.
