I think as a parent you financially support your kids and as they get older you ease them into the work world. I had my first real job at 14. My parents had to sign papers and turn them into the school because of child labor laws. My dad said at that age he would still buy my school stuff but anything else I wanted he would match me half, as I got older he matched me less and less.I am glad he did this for me, he made great money and retired at 57 with no worries but he didnt let me get spoiled. I see nothing wrong with buying some things for a 20 something year old when hes needing some help.
Here is the way it works though, you get to buy him what you want to buy him and you get to deny him what you wish, thats because it is your money not his, doesnt seem fair but its not suppose to, that is what motivates people to work, that is what makes boys decide to become men, because grown men and grown woman get to spend there free money on what they chose to spend it on, My boy wants an expensive back pack for school but tells me its made better and will last him 4 years, I say hell ya boy lets get that back pack. My boy says dad. Its my last free summer before college and I need a car but I want my free time with my friends before I go away, im not getting a job, but dad I really need a car! I lookk at him and say tough shizzle boy. Get ajob and hang out with your freinds after work like I have for 18 years paying your way, and buy the way, he will feel better about going after work because if he gets that job I might find it in my heart to help him get a car, help him, not give him.
