I'm not sure if this is the correct place to put this, but I have some ideas for improving the PEGym web site. I thought about looking for an email address for the web adminsitrator, but maybe a forum is better, because we can see if other people have any other suggestions.

Before explaining my suggestions, I just want to say to the Developers and Administrators that I think this is a great site. The functionality is really nice. I have a couple of suggestions for improving the site, but I think you guys have done a great job in making this a very user friendly and full-featured site.

Here are my two suggestions:

1)You Have A Response - sometimes I get on the site, ask a bunch of questions, respond to a bunch of posts, and then my real life gets in the way, and I go a few days without getting back on the site. By the time I do get back on, I've forgotten all my questions, and I've forgotten who I've responded to.

I think it would be nice if we received a msg in our Inbox(or a separate Inbox) every time someone quoted us. This way, if you want someone to know that you've responded to their question, you can quote them, and they'll get a msg in their "You Have a Response" Inbox or whatever it would be called.

I know that subscribing to a thread addresses this issue to a certain extent, but I think it would be nice if we had an explicit notification that someone has responded to us personally. Speaking of subscribing to a thread, I haven't figured out how to do that yet. Is there a Help section on here? If not, could someone explain how to do this. Thanks.

2)Scrollability - when I access PEGym, I'm always on a laptop, so keyboard functionality really affects usability. Every time I go to a new page, I almost immediately want to scroll down. If I hit the arrow down key on my keyboard, it seems to scroll down on an upper pane of the page, so I have to go to my little scroll pad, or whatever you call it, place the cursor right over the down arrow in the scroll bar, and then left click. I know this sounds nitpicky, but I got to a new page every minute or so that I'm on the site, so it becomes noticeable. This is a small thing, but I think it would really improve the user experience for laptop users.

To the Developers: I'm not sure if the company would allow this, but I have programming skills, so if I can contribute to these changes in any way, I would be happy to do so. Even if it's just, "write a function to do X, and you'll get your stupid little scroll feature", I'd be happy to help.

Thanks,
ThinJohhny

You're first suggestion sounds interesting and one that which I've kind of wished myself was available. We'll have to see if the powers that be can implement of these suggestions. Nice suggestions though.

I don't like the 30 second wait between searches. I imagine this is to avoid bots or something clogging up server space maybe? But if someone has registered, odds are good they are not a bot. So people signed in (which is not very many at a time) should not have to wait 30 seconds between searches. But overall, it's a very impressive forum with a very reliable server and IT team obviously.

There is someone very intelligent, both generically and business-wise running this site. MOS could learn a lot from PEGym on the business part of things. Like the Bathmate ad here is intelligent-some hotty holding a bathmate (love it). At MOS it's just a sterile picture of the BM, which is relatively lame.

To subscribe to a thread, click on "Thread Tools" and select "Subscribe to this thread." Then pick the notification options that you want.

Or in the user options located in the user control panel, edit the default thread subscription so that every thread you create or post in has the same subscription status.

But be ye warned: that generates one hell of a lot of emails.

Unless you do what I do and set it to no email notification, but when you click the user CP it shows all recent replies to the threads you posted in. Cleaner, easier, and no emails to annoy the hell out of you.

I thought you were one of the powers that be:)

I don't like the 30 second wait between searches...

I've gotten hung up on the Search screen a bunch of times, but I thought I was doing something wrong.
Is there any help on the Search capability anywhere? One thing I've been wondering. Can I do a search for
"reverse jelq", for example, and find only posts where those words appear next to eachother?

To subscribe to a thread, click on "Thread Tools" and select "Subscribe to this thread." Then pick the notification options that you want.

Thanks Pirate. I don't know how I didn't see that, but somehow I never noticed Thread Tools at all.

Sweet, thanks DemOne. It sounds like that might completely deal with item 1 on my list. I'm going to check it out. Thanks.

https://www.pegym.com/forums/search.php

You can search by date range, words in posts or thread titles, by a specific user, in a specific sub-forum or the entire site, minimum post limit for the results, if you want to see the specific posts or the thread posts are in, etc.

Example. Typing in "suggestions" searching for thread titles in the Site Announcements & Questions sub-forum, this pops up with your thread only. https://www.pegym.com/forums/search.php?searchid=734707

When I first log onto the Forun, I click on "my posts" to review the threads I have posted on to see if there are any newer posts. Seems to bring me up-to-date on my recent discussions. However, I may be missing new posts on threads I have not posted on for quite a while. Works for me, but I am technologically challenged.

However, I have an issue with the updated New Posts button. If I am not finished reviewing all the new posts and have to log off the forum for some reason, when I return, all the remaining unread posts have been deleted.
