so I got a hair cut about a week ago.. It seems like people are treating me differently. Especially when I take a light jog in the park, people just move out my path I take. I used to need to use piss off body language to get the same result . I did used to have kinda long hair down to the tip of my nose, now it's about 1/8" . I may just keep it this length because of it's positive result

Yesterday I was testing the waters. by cutting the whole line (the line for boarding the bus. no one said anything.) at the bus terminal

I've had similar reactions when I've got really short from quite long, my friends said I looked scary. I just thought it was funny :)

I can't imagine abusing it like that to cut a bus queue though, but I wouldn't act differently with longish hair to get similar results either.

It shouldn't be surprising. We are still drawn to, put off by, and generally base our views of others on stereotypes - still. Shouldn't be but it is and it's reality. Had a friend go im for an interview once and very long dreds - they pissed him off. Went back a couple weeks later without them and they hired him on the spot. Another buddy had a really wild Justin Beiber (sp?) thing going and caught some flack trying to get a loan. He got a haircut and went back - not only did he get the loan, bit a really good rate.

What changed with the both of these guys between incidents? Nothing except a haircut/hairdo change. Appearance is still the biggest barrier we have to move past. Will we? Hmmmm ....

I've noticed the same thing, especially with women. I've been going bald for several years so I just started shaving my head. When my hair gets to about 1/8 or 1/4 inch women start flirting more obviously. Much longer or shorter than that and I don't usually even get a second glance. I've also had a few women come onto me when I bic my head. I guess it's all about the personal preferences involved and think it's kind of funny.

Very weird. I have a full beard and when I trim it, I certainly gets lots of glances and stares and littke smiles. But when it's a bit fuller, women are much more talkative and tend to be more flirty then when it's cut low.

The 70s look was corny, even in the 70s. :D

Humans have always been superficial since the begining of time and will be that way when it ends.

I was a kid back then so I don't overly remember. However, it's my understanding and from my observation in society that side burns are kinda the in thing again.

Yes, humans are superficial and I don't see that changing either.

When you have longish hair people tend to think your a slacker, but sometimes cutting short can scare people off as well cause these days alot of guys are into the modified bowlcuts ( justin Beiber) or their into long hippyish hair. As for dreads for fucks sake leave it to blacks to have dreads!!! When I was in highschool I had a foot fucking tall mohawk( was a crustpunk) nobody took me serious. Now I have the opposite effect lol, I step into businesses and people look at me very strangely and the reason is because I look too clean cut ( I'm into the Clark Kent, Mad Men look) and it freaks them out. Lucky for me I have a girlfriend that likes it, but I tell you what girls these days don't want clean cut dudes, they want dirty, smelly, dudes that look like Zach Galefinakas, but thin! LOL!
