Do it! I kinda regret not doing it at your age. I'm still gonna do it though!

Right there with you. After I am finished with my studies; South America and Asia :)

Wherever I choose to be.....
You guys gotta realize what you get here is my analysis of what happened. Which comes out very cynical. I call myself an asshole in the sense that according to the majorities standards I am an asshole, I can not argue that. Am I an asshole by my own accord? Nope. Have I done wrong? Yes, would the majority of people have handled the situation worse? Yes I believe so. Lol and in what world is a fight over a girl two guys have had sex with disturbing? You see its these little word placements, that you supposedly choose so carefully, that is one of the the things that makes you manipulative. In one of the worst ways....

Also since you already pointed out you are no longer going to help me, I fail to see the point of your post. I mean you would never do anything that is the opposite of helping people.... that is who you are...... hence the confusion over your post which came after you made it clear you were not going to help me.

p.s the majority of those "tough love" responses come from pride and a need to put someone in their place, hardly from the will to help.

Uh, Phil, I'm not sure who the "p.s." in this post is directed at but I can straight up tell you that my responses to you were by no means "tough love"..........my responses to you were of complete disgust that someone could act in the manner to which you chose to act. There was no pride nor the need to put someone in their place. You put out your scenario of what happened, I merely responded with my feelings of the situation. As for the will to help? I can only hope that you heard SOMETHING in some of my posts that made you think about your actions.

Actually it wasnt aimed at anybody in particular but your response is definitely that of pride lol..... I disgust you? How can you say that and not understand the motivation comes from pride as well as the belief that you are above me or at least my actions (which by the way would also be pride). A pride free response would be one with a complete understanding of relativity, emphasis on why and free of judgement, since after all everything is relative....

No I do not think we will be friends anymore, I have done many things for this person. He is the youngest in his family and is used to having things done for him. Right now he has a job I got for him, he is driving a car I co-signed for (its paid off now), amongst countless other things. Its all taken for granted and really I was just trying to make sure he was capable of keeping up with me and the things I wanted to do so that I could have one of the few people I trusted with me.

I do not know where I would go, it is something to think about, since I just came up with the idea, it will take me awhile to work it out.
I would first go through Canada, since I live here. Then it would be a tough decision between South America and the Eastern Hemisphere.

1.No, you didn't disgust me, your actions did.

2.I wasn't judging you, I was making an assessment of the situation based on facts that you supplied us with.

3.As for this "pride" concept of yours, I never once said nor implied I was above you dude. We all act inappropriately at times. I felt you acted inappropriately and stated my feelings. Would I have handled the situation different? Hell yes. Does my handling of the situation make me better than you? Absolutely not. Do I think you need to grow up? Yes. BUT, my feelings in no way make me better than you.

OK, you post an example of your behavior in a chat room under the heading: "royal fuck up" and invite comment. In other words, you want to hear our reaction to your royal fuck up. MBD and others (like me) comment and react. We say, this was not cool behavior on many levels. I am not following how this has anything to do with the "pride" of the people who are reacting to your post.

I disgust you?

If you post something where you recount disgusting or despicable behavior under the heading "Royal Fuck Up," would it be surprising if someone reacted by thinking, "this kid behaved like a royal f-up.?" I'm still missing the part where it requires pride. And if you posted something where you behaved admirably or with great restraint, then the reaction might be different. Then it might be something like, "hey that is really admirable."

How can you say that and not understand the motivation comes from pride as well as the belief that you are above me or at least my actions (which by the way would also be pride).

Well, if you royally fucked up, which many of us have, and say "I royally fucked up," which you admit you did, but show little insight into why your behavior was inappropriate, i.e. a royal fuck up, then why do we need pride to acknowledge: "hey, you royally fucked up, but don't appear to have learned anything from it, and appear to be expressing a perverse pride in your royal fuck up." If you say, I royally fucked up, but now I am committed to not doing crap like this, you would probably get a different reaction. Now, if some of us have overcome our instincts to royally fuck up, or learned from past fuck up, we may indeed feel some sense of pride that we no longer are royal fuck ups. Would this pride in our maturity or ability to overcome our worst instincts be misplaced?

A pride free response would be one with a complete understanding of relativity, emphasis on why and free of judgement, since after all everything is relative....

Oh, now you are a philosopher of ethical relativism? No, under any objective level, your behavior was a royal fuck up, which is why you posted it under the heading "royal fuck up." Some people are going to react to a royal fuck up with a response like, "clean up your act, that behavior was completely inappropriate." Warren Zevon (and clueless mothers everywhere) would simply say: "excitable boy."

These are all things that can be dealt with in a responsible way. If you are saying that he is no longer a friend and unworthy of consideration as far as the relationships that you choose to enter, then I guess I can't comment. If you are saying that you've done some good things for a buddy and now you are entitled to fuck his girl behind his back, some would disagree.

I do not know where I would go, it is something to think about, since I just came up with the idea, it will take me awhile to work it out.

If you could do me a favor, during your soul searching journey if you can't restrain yourself, please avoid bars in the NE section of the US. When I am out with buddies or my wife socializing in a bar, I am not interested in being provoked, or being drug into a royal fuck up. I would hate to be having a pleasant conversation with some girl that you have some permanent claim over, and then become involved in a bar fight. If you know how to behave in a bar, then visit the major cities along the NE corridor, Boston-DC, lots of different people and neighborhoods in a fairly compact geographic area, and there are great bars.

Peace.

dsmall, THAT was a beautifully written response. I couldn't have said ANY of that better myself and your last paragraph was just spot on.

will do. I plan on never visiting that shithole south of the border, :D with the possible exception of watching a Broncos game, anywhere it would be made possible.

There is a slight difference between a new england style bar and a rural bar in canada I am guessing lol. But dsmall if your actions are above pride as you claim, I would not be able to goad you into that first punch (which btw is the real and only disturbing part of the whole thing, the rest is much closer to the definition of typical really, I mean two young males fighting in a bar over a girl with whom both have had sex)(feel free to let me know if that is, or is not a proper use of the word whom). We would apparently be able to enjoy a pint together, of course this is based on your lack of pride and higher levels of acceptance.

As for my friend, yes I am saying his actions have made it so he has made it clear he is not a person I would like to be friends with. I am not doing anything to get back at him, I simply had an opportunity I did not take out of respect for him and his desires. Its not about what I have done for him, its about the way he chose to deal with it, and really if i hadnt stepped aside that first day he would of never had a shot anyways.

As for saying my actions are inappropriate, since none of you have actually chosen the only truly inappropriate/disturbing action there (which is me willfully taking the first punch) I have to ask, compared to what? There has to be a standard based on your core beliefs that you are comparing to. And since everything is relative (i love saying that lol, its such a copout) what you think inappropriate could very well be deemed the right way of dealing with things by a different group of people, or based on a different perspective. Meaning your opinion/view is based on that standard which you hold at a higher level then others. How is that not pride????

WOW. GEEZ. Much less damage to fly to Vegas and hire a prostitue to have sex with. Not someone you could hurt emotionally and then get hurt yourself emotional dealing with this.

I say, if you dont have $500.00 to fly to legal sex the next time you get upset drink some sleepy time tea and go to sleep.
If you are lucky enough to live in a big city with the Oriental Massage "happy ending" go there. Super cheap.

I guess my big question is in general (dont answer this question), why does anger make you want to or need to release it via sex? Thats scary!

There has to be outlets for your anger other than via sex. Search for bar boxing in your area...Amateur boxing rings.. Organized street fighting... So someone can kick your ass for an hour, wear you down and then you can feel broken/beaten instead of doing that to a woman.
