Vegetarian and Nutrition

Vegetarian and Nutrition

Vegetarian/Rawfoodist + Warrior Diet Follower here ;)

I think vegetarian and nutrition are linked. In the long haul I think we'll be seeing more vegetarians as a practical solution to efficient use of land. It takes an enormous amount of land to raise animals, and the pollution (air and ground water) is huge. Too, there is the fundamental question as to why we should be eating animals in the first place. Take a trip to the slaughter house and you'll have instant converts to vegetarians. For meat I only eat chicken and fish, but eventually even that might fall away.

For this site, I hope you guys will push nutrition as a means to enhance PE. Healthy bodies produce better cell growth (and therefore bigger dicks??). Senior moderators should have a powwow and sanction this as a key entity here. "Vegetarian" is a key person to kick this off.

Cheers,

I eat Fish and very very rarely Chicken (It depends on if I´m visiting a foreign country).

Perhaps you should check out the Warrior diet? Send me an PM with your email adress and I will send you "something.pdf";)
The WD speeds up recovery, boosts the hormone system,Boost strenght,Libiod increases etc.

I do an Vegetarian version of WD;)

And recent studies have show that vegans tend to have the highest T levels among all due to the fact they do not consume estrogenic food(Ex:cow milk) which keeps their T elevated.

I am a vegetarian but I eat salmon once a week. I know that makes me seem like a poser, but I really believe in vegetarianism and I go to the gym also. I've gained a lot of muscle ever since, without eating meat (only salmon).

Ah, finally this thread is starting to live! I though it would never kick off. I don't eat meat at all and I've gained 44 lbs in an year of working out.

So what's your favorite vegetarian food?

Without a little meat you run the risk of developing pernicious anemia. Im a 60/40. 60% of what i consume in volume is fruits and vegetables. the other 40% is dairy and meat. No starch im diabetic and eating starch is like eating death.

Fermented soy products, some seafood (seaweeds) and spirulina all contain significant amounts of B12. :)

Do not forget that its very concentrated in "Honey" too,I assume thats the reason I love honey sandwiches ;)
Vitamin B12: Are You Getting It? : Introduction

Honey also keeps your T levels elevated.

Here is another tip for those who are trying to combat excess estrogen and prolactin naturally. Honey is a relatively rich source of a chemical called chrysin. Chrysin acts in the same way as Boron, blocking the conversion of testosterone into estrogen. In a 21 day study on people in Italy, it was found that eating honey did reduce the conversion of testosterone into estrogen.

Now you can add something sweet to go along with your B6 and Zinc.

Honey

The word 'honeymoon' comes from an old Viking tradition, where newlyweds were given a month to get to know each other. During that month, they were encouraged to drink lots of mead, which is a wine made from honey. Vikings considered mead both an aphrodisiac and fertility enhancer.

The idea that honey is good for sex is widespread, and may have some scientific basis, although the cows haven't come home on this just yet. But there are some interesting scientific dots that aphrodisiology tries to connect:
The most interesting research on honey is related to nitric oxide - a key hormone involved in opening blood vessels and creating erections and clitoral engorement. A good dose of honey (around 3 ounces) can increase nitric oxide/nitrite levels in the blood by 50%. The increase in nitric oxide activity was also measured in the saliva and urine, which suggests a real, whole-body effect. This is less than Viagra, but could be significant for some people. ( PMID 15383235)

The January 2007 issue of Penthouse Magazine listed honey as one of the "5 Surefire Ways to Jump-Start Your Engine." Their explanation? "The sticky stuff contains a mineral called boron, which enhances testosterone levels, puts you in the mood more often, and intensifies your orgasm. How's that for buzz?"

Aprhrodisiology wrote about Boron a while back, and we agree that boron can have beneficial effects on testosterone metabolism. But honey does not contain that much boron. Golden goo contains about 7 milligrams of boron per kilogram of honey - more than many foods, but not a huge amount. Prunes, raisins and other dried fruit have about 3 times more boron, and most nuts have at least twice as much Boron as honey. And Boron supplements are dirt cheap.

In addition to Boron, honey is a relatively rich source of a chemical called chrysin. Chrysin acts in the same way as Boron, blocking the conversion of testosterone into estrogen. In a 21 day study on people in Italy, it was found that eating honey did reduce the conversion of testosterone into estrogen. Unfortunately, at day 21, testosterone levels were not any higher ... so chrysin-rich honey can't be called a super testosterone booster. But there may have been a short term boost before the body established equilibrium (the scientists didn't measure that), and it is also probable that maintaing testosterone while lowering estrogen slightly might improve some peoples sexual chemistry.

Honey is great for pouring on and licking off your partner (Pictorial). Many experienced women feel that it is best to keep honey on the upper half of the torso, as the sugar might feed a yeast infection if it got into the private areas.

Some people (including my friend Van) are wild about tupelo honey, which comes from the nectar of the swamp tupelo in the southern United States. I myself am partial to orange blossom honey and gallberry/palmetto honey. Clover is the most common honey in stores; clover honey is lightly colored and mild - some would say bland.

While science hasn't bothered to unravel all the mysteries of honey, we do know a few other things. Honey starts out as nectar and pollen - plant sperm. Yes, Victoria, birds do it, bees do it, and plants also do it. And the male plants invest a large amount of metabolic resources into producing their spermy pollen.

Then the bees get a hold of the nectar and pollen, and they swallow it, add a few digestive enzymes, and return to the hive where they regurgitate it for storage.

We know that honey has a wide variety of medicinal activities. It fights bacteria and viruses and encourages burns to heal. Consuming honey on a regular basis can lower a person's cholesterol ... not trying to switch you away from your Zocor or Lipitor, just pointing out that honey really can do some incredible things to the human metabolism.(PMID:15117561)

Some of the fragrant chemicals found in honey include:

cinnamaldehyde
cinnamyl alcohol
cinnamic acid
neryl and geranyl nitrile
benzenepropanol
homovanillyl alcohol
p-methoxy-cinnamic acid
coniferaldehyde
ferulic acid
The compounds that look like the word cinnamon are in fact found in Cinnamon, another substance that has real aphrodisiac properties. Homovanillyl alcohol? A relative of vanilla flavoring, another common food/perfume ingredient that positively affects mood and libido.

Honey is also loaded with waxy compounds that may or may not have lots of great effects on the human body, depending on which study you read.

Sperm

Sperm

If this isn't too far off the mark, has anyone determined if there is a way to increase the quantity of sperm either by physical exercise or taking supplements? Increasing the frequency of ejaculations doesn't seem to have any influence. Hmmmmm!!

Some vegetarians are ill informed and don't know they need B12 in the diet to sustain life. So by reading this thread they can educate themselves. Soy does not contain B12. Im doubtful seaweed does either. But perhaps honey does. Can anyone provide a link that proves me wrong???

Also whey protein is a dairy deriveative.

Should I make a general point about "The protein myth"? Your being fooled by the Supplements companies in beliving you need extremly much protein to achive more muscle. This is bullshit and I´m a living proof of it. I will summarize it as this "The main thing our body needs to build muscles are amino acids...."
You will build muscle by only eating sallad for a year as sallad is filled with ****** ^^ I will let you guess on this one.

KP,Honey does contain B12. Check the link in my previous post and this one

But eat whole natural honey, not the filtered, blended and imported honey.
Buy local beekeepers' honey. (The apostrophe is for benefit of the grammar police.)

Well let's take some examples of vegetarians...

Bill Pearl, the legendary bodybuilder. He became a vegetarian several decades ago (1969) and still managed to win the Mr. Universe title in 1971 without drugs or meat in his diet.

Carl Lewis. Lewis was once the world's fastest man (winning the Gold Medal in the 100m sprints at the 1988 Olympics). He declared for the media:

Mac Danzig - the UFC fighter who is ripped to shreds and who won season 6 of Ultimate Fighter.

Pat Reeves is female, vegan and a champion. Now 52, she's won the British Powerlifting Championship eight years running.

I believe vegetarians are better informed in the first place about nutrition since they took a conscious decision in their life regarding diet. When I started my vegetarian diet I did intense reading on the subject to be sure that just because most people eat meat, I'm not doing the wrong thing for my body if I give it up.

According to social studies conducted in the US the year when most people become vegetarians was... 2008. And that only proves that as time goes by, more and more research is brought in the favor of vegetarian diets, and not the opposite.
Good post ;) I made the effort of posting several other highlighted vegetarians/vegans in "The 4 supplements needed for mucle growth thread".

Even Mcdonalds is turning more into Vegetarian food.

And I'm sure a lot of folks here are saying "NO" to steroids, prohormones, anabolic drugs etc but perhaps none of them ask themselves how are animals being grown on large scale in small amounts of time.

Further viewing: Meat.org: The Video That the Meat Industry Doesn't Want You to See
Fuck...That video was disgusting. It had combined a lot of horrible clips... :(

Regarding the Steroids,AAS,Prohormones. I can not belive that people just consume all the bullshit media throws at your face, are they mindless robots?
I was afraid of Steroids for about 20 years, but since I got more and more knowledge about them by visiting Steroid.com and doing my own reading about the facts...I discovered all the benefits steroids are able to bring. There are a lot of steroids, and especially one in particular starting with an D**** which is able to almost cure all kinds of cancer and even Aids. But the medical companies gathered together to bann D**** using the FDA.
Why did they do this? Well, there is something that makes the world go around, its called money. One gets more profit from selling more less effective steroids than selling one inexpensive but super effective one.

Steroids are the fountain of youth and so on. There are so many benefits from them and the side effects are exaggregated by the media (which is controlled by the medical & supplement companies).

You get my point.

By the way, Honey has been shown to raise Nitric Oxide by 50% (Wow) when consuming 2 tea spoons of it.

As I´m studying the effects of H2O2 as an hidden super effective cancer treatment I read that :
Cancer cells live upon Dairy foods(Ive reduced my Milk consumption a lot),Processed foods, and refined sugars.
Cancer cells love it when there is no oxygen (but die when oxygen is present, thereby the reason H2O2 is so effective at killing Cancer cells while helping healthy ones as they grow by oxygen).
Source: http://www.kict.info/strategy

I asked more about why Cow milk is aiding Cancer...
"Hi Andreas,
A dropper bottle is perfect to dose the H2O2 into the glass of distilled water.
Cows milk contains naturally occuring growth hormones designed to turn a young calf into a large cow relatively quickly. These growth hormones work by promoting rapid cell division, something you do not need cancer cells to be encouraged to do. Cows milk is also acid forming on the body. Goats milk is better as not only is it alkalising, but also does not contain the powerful growth hormones of cows milk.

If you have any more queries please get back to me.

Best Regards

Ian."

I´m leaning more and more to becoming an vegan/rawfoodist. It is possible to check the health of people in for example africa, who relies on none processed foods(and mostly Raw vegetables) and such are very healthy. I would perhaps even dare to call a lot of the population in many African tribes for "Inofficially Vegans".

Soy Milk

Soy Milk

Ah, finally this thread is starting to live! I though it would never kick off. I don't eat meat at all and I've gained 44 lbs in an year of working out.

So what's your favorite vegetarian food?

There has been an article circulating around the web that blames soy milk for everything that afflicts humankind. Actually to the point of laughable. He attacks the soy industry and sinister government agencies for promoting this dangerous food. Is there a shred of validity to his statements? Many years ago I had kidney stones and it's not something I ever want to go through again. So I gave up milk in fear it would bring them on again. I drink soy milk everyday. Is there some caution I need to be aware of?

Veg, you should be the nutritional consultant on this site. Nutrition and PE seem to be likely partners. Maybe I should press our Moderators to establish a single source of Nutritional advice?

Great thread, I'm not a vegetarian but I lean in that direction. Animal protein would make up less than 10% of my overall diet. I almost never consume dairy, the rare piece of cheese now and then. If anyone wants a definitive study into health and eating you have to read 'The China Study' it is without doubt the best report on this topic I have ever come across. Basically a 20 year study into the dietary habits of rural Chinese vs. Western eating habits and the comparison of long term health.

When I first turned to vegetarianism I was 275lbs of sh*t, but with working out reguarly and being on a vegetarian diet I lost like 35 lbs. Then unfortunately had to stop working out due to finances. Then I was vegan( my healthiest phase of life) When I went back to working out. I trained like a powerlifter/strongman and made excellent gains and losses, and increased my PB's greatly in a short amount of time only using basic supps( Multi-blend vegan protien powder, creatine, glutamine, siberian ginseng and green tea). No meat and no dairy at all, you just gotta know how to structure your diet, oh and you have to actually train like a monster. Nothing feels greater than almost passin out at the top of a deadlift!!!
