Why are we always compared to gorillas?

So I was watching a science channel thing on sex the other night and they did their 2 cents on male penis size. And the show said that men should feel lucky cause our penises are bigger than a gorilla's and that we have the largest penis of all primates. And that got me thinkin... I saw the Dr.Oz special on Oprah for guys, and dude stands up to ask a question about enlarging his penis and Dr. Oz gets this look of disgust and immediately shoots him down with facts that our penises are bigger than a gorilla's. And a while back my brother had a circumsizion cause he tore his foreskin during sex, so I asked the urologist "Can I make it bigger?". And he immediately shot me down with facts about my penis being bigger than a gorilla's.

So... who gives a crap that our penises are genetically larger than a gorilla's?!? I mean serisouly people... I really don't think that a gorilla is gonna be competition for getting a woman into bed because he has a bigger penis than me. And I really don't think a woman is gonna take a gorilla over me even if me, her and the gorilla are the only things left on Earth. And when someone askes about how they measure up, I'm pretty sure they want a comparison to something along the lines of being in the same species.

Answer me people, why do doctors and science peoples compare us to gorillas when we want a bigger penis? This is seriously blowing my mind.

Genetically we're closer to Orangutans (DNA wise).

Gorillas actually have small ding dongs. Your doctor was just saying that for our size, we have the largest penises.

I'd say that genetically we're closest to the bonobo chimp, other catarrhini such as gorillas and orangutans share a bit less genes with us.

Yes, I know orangutans are more genetically close to us, and yes I know that gorillas have the smallest penises of all primates and and chimpanzees have the largest testes, but the point is why do "Experts" say that we should be proud of or size compared to "gorillas", when all we ask is how to get a bigger penis in comparison to humans. I personally don't want huge balls and a small ding dong, I'd much rather have it the other way around... which in turn makes me human: larger penis than a gorilla and smaller testes than a chimpanzee. How does our size in comparison to other primates relate to anything that we would want to stimulate any sexual tension in a human female.
But how does this information relate to wanting a larger penis in anyway? A biological anthropologist can say "Hey look! A trend in penis sizes corrolating to different species of primate blah blah blah....". Thats cool and all, being a future Astrobiologist and everything, but still if you're any normal self-conscious guy asking an "Expert" how to make your penis bigger, don't you wanna find a way to be genetically superior to your own species not a different one in which you can't even mate or reproduce with?

I know this is a completely pointless subject but for some reason its really been stinging the back of my mind lately.

Well what you're saying is obvious, Captain... (uh, no pun intended). For a thinking man, at least. Most guys, though, are so deep in their insecurities that they WILL actually be comforted if a doctor tells them they have a bigger cock than a gorilla. That's why doctors do that.

That's a great thread Bw ,I read it elsewhere and it suggests we have a bigger penis than gorillas because women wanted it that way.

Well I guess since most of us don't go around beating our chests and bearing our teeth, and since most women are not interested in coupling with a gorilla, the next best step is to make ourselves a bigger penis.

Speaking of bearing one's teeth, I have found that a big smile can often break the ice.

My doctor said the same thing a few months back when I told him I was doing P.E; I can't remember how exactly it came about but some where in the conversation I said "thats great but i'm not about to f**k a gorilla" and thats what it comes down to.

I've never been attracted to gorillas.
I expect they feel the same way.
BUT I think it is wise to think about biology and the evolutionary forces that have shaped us when we are considering our sexuality. Honestly, many things make a lot more sense when you think about the big picture.
