I've always found personality tests interesting. Briggs-Meyers has been around for a while. It's pretty comprehensive, and it definitely holds more water than the "WAT COLOR IZ UR SPRIT AMINAL CLCIK TOO FIND 0UT" quizzes that 10 year olds make on Facebook. You can take it here.
I've taken the test multiple times on different sites over the course of a few years, and I always get INFP-T(Mediator), which describes me surprisingly well across the board, although I do sometimes exhibit traits of INTP(Logician) and ISFP(Adventurer). I'm driven by morals and values more than anything else. If my job doesn't give me a sense of purpose or make me feel like I'm accomplishing something important, I'll feel pretty miserable doing it. I am shy, and reserved in public, although I'm not one to stand idly by and let myself or others be walked all over. I'm laid-back and silly in private. Really enthusiastic about things I like. Always kind of felt like an outsider, like I didn't really belong anywhere. Being in the military helped foster my fierce independence and made me more sure of myself. Eventually became pretty comfortable with being different, and now I enjoy doing things my own way (although it gets me in trouble sometimes), and not being held back by groups of people. Afraid of being judged, embarrassed, made a fool of. Not really afraid of physical things. Have a knack for writing and acting, although my shyness can get in the way of the acting, and I'm a picky and perfectionistic writer, so writing is really really time consuming because I put a lot of thought into it. Speaking of time, I HATE time limits. I just wanna chill and work at my own pace. INFP Type (Mediator).
Kind of felt detached from, and out of touch with people after being honorably discharged from the Navy. Kind of felt like an alien in my hometown.
It's been almost 2 years. Still feel that way. I don't really bother making friends as it's impossible to find people who share my interests as enthusiastically as I do, and I have plenty of fun by myself. Plus I'm not really one for casual small talk. Some childhood friends I just kind of grew away from, and was afraid they wouldn't like me anymore. Other friends were just kind of flighty, or matters of convenience, and it seemed like they didn't reciprocate the care and effort I put into the friendship, which left me feeling unsatisfied. As an independent introvert, I'm okay with not having many friends. Imo, the less relationships you have, the harder you can work on the ones you do have. My difficulty relating to people still bothers me though.
Romantically I think the types that appeal to me most are ENFJ(Protagonist)(which is unfortunate as they seem to be rare), as well as the other Diplomatic types, and the ISFJ(Defender). When it comes to dating, I may appear picky, but it's just because I want to pick right the first time, and because with all my quirks, I don't think I'm very compatible with that many women. I have a bad habit of looking for reasons to turn a girl down before I even talk to her. "Look at that giant glitzy purse. Materialistic high maintainence alert. Jeez, you could kill a grizzly bear with that thing! Nope, not interested in her."
Wow, this turned into Sequoia's therapeutic venting. :bad:
