i tried 3 different sugar paste brands before i found the one that is easiest to use for me... although the ingredients are almost identical for most sugar pastes (sugar, lemon juice, water) there are definitelly differences in firmness or gooiness of the paste (probably due to different ratio of sugar and water by each manufacturer)...

well i deliberatelly said "inches" because i dont know whats the starting point of any user... some people might have afro, some just use scissors to shorten longer hair, some trim regulary but use a hair clipper with a comb so they dont go too short, some trim to stubble but leave the shaft with stubble, some trim and razor-shave the shaft... the variations are endless... i say check the example photos and start waxing the shaft because every milimeter of shaft fully waxed counts and adds length optically...

i must disagree from my personal experience... wax defintelly made me look bigger compared to 4mm trimmed shaft... probably depends a lot on density of your stubble and hair color (dark vs brown vs blond)... it definitelly doesnt make usable gains thats why the thread title says "optical" gain...
