I'm suffering from ED and the doctor prescribed Levitra and Cialis for me.
I took the Levitra first. It didn't do much for me during the evening, but the next day some side effects started to appear (flushing and increased heart rate).
My question is, can I try the Cialis after having these side effects with the Levitra? Or is it possible that I won't have side effects with the Cialis?

You would be well advised to consult the Doctor who prescribed. He determined the dosage strength based upon his diagnosing of you.
We do not know the related factors, he does.

Well he didn't really examine me or anything, just asked a few questions and decided that the pills treatment is the way to go.
My question was a general one - based on others expereince, can one develop side effects because of the Levitra, but be ok with the Cialis?

All drugs come with side effects. Some get them and some folks don't. There is no other answer to your question. Try it and see what happens. You won't die, at least I don't think you will. No I'm not kidding.

You really need to discuss this with your doctor.
Stay away from nitrates and don't eat grapefruit while on these drugs.
For me the side effects are nasal congestion and acid stomach.

Ask you doc about Stendra, the brand name for Avanafil! A new PDE5 drug with a different formulation. I believe all are different with regard to side effects.
