Well the advice you can get from a socially awkward guy, virgin, 18 years old, no experiences with relationships is that you should go for it.. It is usually the only way it's going to work.. And when they say stuff like that..? The reason why I think I'm so conservative in going after it is that this is my only FWB that I have actually considered dating on a couple of different occasions. Another huge factor is that most of the time if you have a friend with benefits you get them for that reason specifically a "friend who you can have sex with and not worry about any emotional attachment" where as with this girl from the beginning of our sexual relationship we have had a strong emotional connection because we were good friends before adding in the benefits part. If you both have wanted to make it a real relationship in the past, why didn't you do it then? Are either of you scared of commitment? If she has wanted something more in recent past, why would it change all of a sudden? I would say she is testing you and trying to find out if you can be committed to her.
