I think for some of us it goes beyond the foreshortening effect.
I have coined a term "penarexia", or "penorexia"
Just like extremely skinny women with anorexia still view themselves as fat, men with extremely large penises can still look down and see a tiny willy.
It is a mental disorder. I truly believe this happens.
I have a rather large unit, and I have seen dildos that I know for a fact are smaller than me (both by measurements, and direct comparison of holding the toy to my member) and even though they are smaller than me, they look huge while I look small.
I have realized that the toys actually are huge, and that my brain is seeing them accurately, but when looking at myself there is some type of translation error in my brain and I look small to myself.

This seems to be a common phenomena in men on this site, and likely outside of this site too.

Agreed. There are enough posts on this forum alone from men claiming sizes that are well above average to bear this out. Go to a forum like LPSG and the numbers and frequencies of these types of posts are even higher!

That is pretty funny, havent seen that fight for about 30 years. Need to get that for my kids.

I understand the way it looks when looking down, it does look smaller but I manage to look at the side view in the mirror and it looks big then. My wife has very small hands and that helps to.

I think for me that believing the true penis size statistics also helps. I know that sometimes it may not look like the anaconda we all want to see but I also know that a ruler does not lie. I think if more men learned to love their penis it would help quite a bit. I know I love mine and so does my wife. Besides she says its big and I know better than to argue with her.

The "penorexia" disorder you are thinking of is body dysmorphia.

I like to close one eye, squint, and put my head back and to the left. lol, but really.
