Ever ACED an interview and not get the job?

BLARRGHHH it's impossible (well clearly not impossible but damned difficult) to get a job in my field of education, LOL! I've been on a few and well I make it to the end, and I get dropped or the position disappears.

This last one went swimmingly. dude was ready to hire, Re-conferred with the boss man and the Bossman pulled the plug on hiring the position I just won! *grumble*


I've applied to 700+ openings (Not even an exaggeration. I counted 120 applications done in one day at my height) in multiple countries. I have had 4 in person job interviews, and 8 phone interviews. LOL! Tough out here.

Yes sympathy man . I had similar experiences . On the other hand had someone send me to an interview and after the guy explained the job, said sorry man I would like to work for you ,but truth is I have no background in this work. I started the following monday, only a 3 month casual stint, but hey I learnt new stuff and got paid. They said they would have me back when they got a new project ,but I have been employed continuous since in another area I have little background in lol.

yeah, I'm ending up getting there. I actually have background in CAD/CAM work so my friend is going to try to get me on at his company (a major MAJOR brand name), But I've just gotta get brushed up on six sigma and other stuff. the only other alternative would be to start shooting out my work i've done already as freelance.

Problem is I just want a steady paycheck right now... I need it actually.

Hey ask BigO for a job. He always says he's too old to be doing what he's doing so maybe he needs a young guy.

When I was out of a job, the out placement service recommended I call all my friends and contacts and ask if you could stop by to discuss improving your resume and assure them that you are not there looking for a job (makes them more comfortable and more open) When you are finished with the meeting, ask them if they can refer you to three other people in the field who may be able to help you prepare a better resume. Make appointments with them also assuring them you are not there looking for a job. Keep networking in this way and eventually, you will come across someone who actually has a job opening in their company.

Well i finally landed a gig... It's part time (crazy part time) with minimal hours... Sucks because I really need full time hours. The pay is pretty substantial (even considering they're skimming off the top through the placement agency), but with the minimized hours it still rounds out to minimal pay overall.

Either way, I look at it as though it's a way to get a better job. Add in the skimmed percentage and that's what they're paying me. I'll use that as my leverage for full time employment and pay Hopefully that works LMAO.

I posted that I am job searching on FB and got a great reference and a job!

I think that sometimes it does not matter how good you are; if you don't know someone you're not getting in!

Tell them you are an administrator of the PEGym and you're a PEGym Editor, and the job is yours. People wanna be friends with intelligent and helpful people that could be of benefit for themselves.

Sometimes it is knowing somebody, sometimes it is running into someone at the right time, sometimes your reputation for hard work proceeds you and you're hand picked, and sometimes you have all those qualities and contacts and the stars align for someone else. Perhaps you're that someone else.

Its hard to tell. All I know is to work hard, don't burn bridges and touch base with former bosses and coworkers from time to time.

You never know when your lucky number will be picked.
