Yes more time and intensity under pressure develops more viens.
Don't know about food.
Don't know re warm up.

I don't think a large dick necessarily needs to have veins. Like the original post said, most porn stars have big dicks and very little or no really noticeable veins. I for one don't have a lot of noticeable veins. And I don't really see them developing as I make more progress. I actually like the smooth look and make sure to use lotion on it daily and shave.
