Actually controlled partial are hard to do, I don't understand why you don't dry orgasm instead? I have done a controled partial to impress a partner ,you know 2 ejaculations from 1 erection. If you seperate orgasm from ejaculation and just have the orgasm it is called dry orgasm. If you do this many times in a single session it is called male multi orgasm (mmo). That happened to me a few times, as well. My guess is that you just need more practice.

I believe it is the ejaculation but since most of us ejaculate whenever we orgasm, your body gets trained to assume that if you orgasm, you must have ejaculated too, therefore your erection shuts down. You need to practice to retrain it.
