Hi there,

I've started going to the gym, but I'm a bit lost on what weights I need to lift and how many sets and reps I need to do.

Basically, my aim is to burn fat (I do HIIT as well) and get my muscles a bit bigger. Not body builder style, just a bit more defined as I think I look pretty weedy.

I'm not overly strong, e.g. I can do 2 x 10 on the shoudler press machine at 25-27.5kg before my arms get too tired.

The other machines I've been working on are (not exact name):

Tricep Push-downs
Lateral Pull-downs
Chest Press
Shoulder Press
Flying (?) Chest Press
Some rowing type machine (but not the rowing machine) that works the back muscles
Abdominal Crunch machine.

Do any of you guys know what weights I should be lifting and how much, in order to reach my goal?

Free weights and 5x5 rep x sets will do you just fine. Lift heavy with good form, do squats, bench press, deadlifts. Those will take the pounds off, but remember you still have to eat well.
