I've seen a lot of threads recently asking what supplements are best for this and that, so i've decided to make a list of all the supplement's i've used and whether or not i have noticed any effects from them. as for the validity of my claims, i've been working out for 10 years, involved in athletics in highschool (9 varsity letters) and threw javelin in college my freshman year before a shoulder injury. i'm 5'9 and i've been fat - 215lbs, thin 140lbs, and everywhere in between. i've gained muscle, lost it, regained it, relost it, at least three or four different times and for several different reasons. i've learned how to do it in the quickest and most effective ways too. this is from my experience and is completely unbiased. most of these are all effective in both bodybuilding and PE, however some are clearly for one or the other.

DISCLAIMER: i'm not a doctor. i'm not recommending you take these supplements. this is just my experience.
DISCLAIMER 2: not all of these supplements are legal everywhere without a prescription.

Whey Protein - this is the most essential supplement you can take when trying to build muscle or lose weight. without protein your body can't build muscle. its like building a brick wall without bricks. i prefer whey because it absorbs fast. do youself a favor, get a shaker to mix them it and use skim milk if you can. a serving typically has around 50g protein and little else.

Weight Gainer - this is a great product for hard gainers. a serving typically has around 30g protein 15g carbs and 10g fat, at least mine does. it is great because hard gainers need to eat 8 meals a day and these don't fill you up, but do supply sufficient calories. Often times, these also contain a host of other ingredients such a creatine, glutamine, taurine that will aid with water retention.

Creatine: is a good product for many, however i don't like to use it. it will aid in explosive energy and strenght, but it gives me headaches. it will aid in water retention and make your muscles bigger. if you choose to use creatine, it should be loaded at about 15g a day the first week and about 5g a day after. i believe that best results come from cycling creatine 6 weeks on 6 weeks off.

L-Glutamine: my experience is limited, however it seems to do much the same thing as creatine and i do believe that the two together yeild much better results.

L-Arginine - increases bloodflow. this is great for workouts - i take 2 capsules in the morning and 2 before i work out. they give me a nice boost of energy, thought they occasionally give me a headache. by supplying more blood to the muscles, i get a better pump from my workouts and i think i'm able to do more sets, possibly because of lactic acid clearing faster. This has also aided greatly in my PE, particularly girth exercises.

DHEA - one of my favorite supplements. this is pretty cheap and very effective. it supposedly boosts testosterone, but i'm not sure that this is the case. studies are inconclusive. What i can say is that it worked very well for me. When i started taking dhea, my workout and diet did not change, i gained at least 3 pounds of muscle and lost a good bit of belly fat. on top of this, it gave me a boost of energy - but healthy natural energy, not stimulant energy - and lifted my mood considerably. this is one to not go without. i did notice it made my skin a bit oily, but nothing abnormal.

Multivitamins - don't go without these. period. your body can survive without many of your essential nutrients, however it cannot function to it's full potential.

Testosterone Enanthate - i've been using this one for the past month or so 250mg per week. i'm using a fairly low dose in comparison to bodybuilders. even at a low dose, i've gained 15 pounds in the past 5 weeks. it has sped up my PE gains considerably as well. i've also gained a bit of hair on my chest maybe a 10 percent increase and have gotten two or three pimples. it has also affected my mood a bit from time to time.

Dexedrine - i was on this for about 3 semesters when i was in college before i graduated. it was prescribed for an attention disorder, but i found it more effective for losing weight than anything else. when used as a diet aid, this is a very unhealthy supplement, however as a workout aid, it can be very effective. it can give you the drive to workout extra hard, and does stimulate your metabolism.

ZMA - a natural testosterone booster, works by curing a mineral deficiency. these have helped me gain about 5 pounds of muscle in about 8 weeks, while my diet and workout were constant. no doubt it was the ZMA that made me gain. i would take this year round

tribbulus terrestris - another testosterone booster - this is the main ingredient in many expensive supplements. it supposedly boosts your test, and it helped me gain a few pounds and increased my libido a good bit. i wouldn't go without this one, but i don't like to stay on it for more than 3 months at a time either. i noticed it made my skin a bit oily, and gave me one pimple. also it occasionally upset my stomach.

Fat Burners - things like Ripped Fuel, xenedrine, stackers. i hate to admit it, but when i was a fat kid i used a lot of these things. they all did mostly the same thing for me, got my hyper and wound up, made my hands shaky, and made me sweat. i also lost about 30 pounds by taking one or two every morning for a year or so. i wouldn't recommend these, they are an unhealthy way to lose weight. stimulants are not good for healthy weightloss, although in low doses they can be very effective while minimizing side effects. the most effect stack ephedra and caffeine.

in my opinion - and all it is is an opinion - the way to lose weight or gain weight rapisdly without doing it in an unhealthy manner is to use a large combination of supplements in small amounts and well timed intervals during your day. in conjunction with diet and exercise, proper supplementation can make a years journey into 5 months.

there are a host of other supplements i've tried that didn't do much for me. these are the ones i find worth mentioning. if there are any supplements or stacks of supplements that in your own personal experience have had a big effect on your physique, catalogue them and your experience with them here! thanks for reading and any additional info!
